Rental Car Hours of Operation
Between 11:30 PM and 4:00 AM, buses are staged at both the Terminal and the Rental Car Center to minimize wait times. Typical wait times are approximately 10 minutes, with occasional waits of up to 20 minutes. For more information, please contact 510-453-1522.
Picking Up Rental Cars
For rental car pickup, take the Rental Car Shuttle from the Terminals to the Rental Car Center located in the North Field. There are two Rental Car Shuttle pickup/drop-off locations, both located at the 3rd curb outside of Terminals 1 and 2 (Shuttle Stops 3A and 3D). If you are picking up a vehicle from an off-airport rental car company location, you will have to arrange with the rental car company for a transfer shuttle from the Rental Car Center to the off-airport location.
Dropping Off Rental Cars
If you are returning a rental car to an on-airport rental car company, you will return your vehicle to the Rental Car Center. If you are returning a vehicle to an off-airport rental car company location, then you will need to arrange with the rental car company for a transfer shuttle to the Airport.
*If you are checking luggage, plan to arrive at your airline’s ticket counter at least 90 minutes prior for domestic departures, and at least 2 hours prior for Hawaii and international departures (or as directed by your airline).
OAK’s Rental Car Center houses all on-airport rental car companies in one location. The rental car center is in the Airport’s North Field, less than a 10 minute drive from the Terminals.
