A History In Flight, San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport’s Historical Video. The 24-minute video (shown here in nine parts) looks at OAK’s humble beginnings in 1927 to its recognition today as the Bay Area’s low-cost airport. A History In Fight recounts the derring-do of early aviation pioneers to set world flight records and achieve their personal best, using OAK’s strategic location and excellent facilities to begin their record-setting flights. It also tells the story of how OAK rises above adversity, recognizes challenges and becomes a major economic engine by creating opportunity for the San Francisco Bay region.
