New study places OAK third in the U.S., citing reliable arrivals, low congestion, and easy access for drivers

Oakland, Calif. – October 27, 2026: Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK) has been recognized as one of the easiest airports in the United States for passenger pickup, earning the No. 3 ranking nationwide in a new 2026 study by Upgraded Points.
The analysis evaluated the 50 largest U.S. airports across factors including arrival reliability, passenger volume, parking and waiting options, traffic flow, and pickup convenience. OAK received an overall score of 82.4 out of 100, with the study highlighting the airport’s convenient cell phone lot location, strong on-time arrival performance, and efficient passenger pickup experience.
“This recognition reflects OAK’s ongoing commitment to providing a convenient, customer-friendly airport experience,” said Port of Oakland Director of Aviation Craig Simon. “From easy terminal access to efficient curbside operations, OAK continues to deliver the accessibility and ease of use that travelers have come to expect from the Bay Area’s most convenient airport.”
According to the study, OAK’s cell phone lot is just 0.6 miles from its terminals, tying for the shortest distance among airports analyzed. Arriving flights experience an average delay of only 10.1 minutes and achieve an on-time arrival rate of more than 81%. These factors help create a smoother, more predictable experience for travelers and those picking them up.
