OAK launches new look and welcomes travelers to National Aviation Day celebration

Airport’s refreshed logo highlights convenience, Bay Area pride, and new investments in the traveler experience at OAK

Oakland, Calif. – August 19, 2026: Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK) today unveiled a refreshed logo, marking an exciting new chapter for the airport as it continues its evolution as the Bay Area’s most convenient airport for local travelers. The new logo modernizes the beloved “I Fly OAK” tag line while preserving the spirit and recognition travelers have associated with Oakland’s airport for years. The refresh aligns with the airport’s new name and reflects OAK’s vision for the future while celebrating the values that have long defined its passenger experience: convenience, accessibility, value, and connection to the diverse communities of the Bay Area. A video featuring the refreshed brand is available here.

“The logo refresh represents who we are today and where we’re headed tomorrow,” said Port of Oakland Director of Aviation Craig Simon. “As Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport continues to grow and invest in our facilities, we’re proud to introduce a new logo that reflects our commitment to providing a high-value, low-stress travel experience while celebrating the culture, diversity, and innovation that make the Bay Area such a remarkable destination.”

The rebrand arrives during a period of continued investment in passenger experience at the airport. Recent improvements include extensive restroom renovations, the addition of new locally inspired dining and retail options like Trader Vic’s, which will open in the coming weeks. Looking ahead, OAK’s proposed Terminal Modernization and Development Project will create an even better experience for future generations of travelers.

The refreshed logo will first be introduced digitally on the airport’s online platforms and on screens throughout the terminals. Rollout for physical locations throughout the airport will occur in the coming months.

In coordination with the launch, OAK will host a special National Aviation Day event in Terminal 2 (post-security) today from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, inviting travelers of all ages to explore aviation-themed activities and learn more about the airport’s role in connecting the Bay Area to destinations around the world. For those without a flight booked, visitors are welcome to attend the festivities by using OAK Guest Pass.

National Aviation Day in-terminal activities will include:

  • Storytime sessions hosted by Oakland Public Library
  • An aviation-themed selfie station
  • Complimentary airport swag
  • Free ice cream for guests
  • A showcase of last month’s social media photo contest winners

National Aviation Day is observed annually in recognition of the pioneers, advancements, and ongoing impact of aviation. The celebration reflects OAK’s continued commitment to inspiring future generations while connecting communities through air travel.
