Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport launches National Aviation Day photo contest

Community invited to capture and share their favorite OAK moments by July 27

Oakland, Calif. – July 6, 2026: In celebration of National Aviation Day, Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK) is inviting aviation enthusiasts, travelers, and community members to participate in a special photo contest highlighting the unique spirit of OAK.

From July 6 through July 27, members of the public are encouraged to submit their favorite OAK-related photos by posting them on their personal social media accounts and including the hashtag #OAKPhotoContest2026. Submissions may feature aircraft, terminal scenes, airfield activity, traveler experiences, or any creative perspective that captures the energy and character of OAK.

“National Aviation Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the excitement of air travel and the people who make it possible,” said Craig Simon, Director of Aviation at the Port of Oakland. “We’re excited to see OAK through the eyes of our travelers and community. This contest is a chance for everyone to share their unique perspective and connect with the airport in a creative and meaningful way.”

A panel of OAK employees will review all eligible entries and select one winning photograph that best represents the airport’s role as a gateway to the Bay Area and beyond. The grand prize winner will receive:

  • Their photo displayed in-terminal at OAK
  • Featured recognition on OAK’s official social media channels
  • OAK airport swag bag
  • Exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the airport and airfield

Participants must ensure their social media profiles are public for the duration of the contest to allow entries to be viewed and judged. Additional contest details and eligibility requirements will be available on OAK’s official social media channels.
