Thanksgiving travel begins at OAK

Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport projects nearly a quarter of a million passengers

Oakland, Calif. – November 20, 2025: Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK) is ringing in the holiday season and is prepared for a busy Thanksgiving holiday. The airport will welcome nearly a quarter of a million passengers during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period. The travel period will be from Friday, November 21, through Sunday, November 30. The terminals at OAK are being decked out in holiday cheer, and new stores and restaurants are open to welcome Thanksgiving travelers.

“We wish travelers and our Bay Area community a very happy Thanksgiving,” said Port of Oakland Director of Aviation Craig Simon. “As OAK will be busy for the holidays, passengers are encouraged to arrive at the airport early, reserve parking ahead of time, and check in with their airline before coming to the airport.”

As always, the airport recommends arriving at least 2 hours prior to departure for domestic travel and 3 hours for international. In case of airline delays or cancellations, passengers should check flight status with their airline before coming to the airport.

Parking reservations guarantee entry to the parking lots, and travelers are strongly advised to make a reservation during the busy holiday season. Book 4+ days and pay $19 per day in the Daily Lot or $14 per day in the Economy Lot with a one-time $1.99 Booking fee. Those who choose not to secure parking with a reservation can check OAK’s parking page ahead of the trip for lot occupancy rates and urgent “sold out” alerts. Reservations and parking availability information is available at iflyoak.com/park.

New concession locations are now open and serving passengers at OAK. New restaurants introduced this year include Forge Pizza and District, both located in Terminal 2. Alameda-based Donut Petit has also launched a pop-up location in Terminal 2 baggage claim, which operates daily from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

For travelers looking to do some holiday shopping during their trip, OAK offers several exciting new options. Many shops offer goods supplied by small local businesses, to give your holiday gift a special Bay Area flair:

    • Roll East
    • Little Main St. @ OAK
