San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport expects busy Labor Day weekend

OAK recommends arriving early and reserving on-site parking ahead

Oakland, Calif. – August 23, 2024: San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport (OAK) gears up for a busy Labor Day weekend. OAK expects over 200,000 travelers to visit the airport between Thursday, August 29 and Tuesday, September 3. Based on scheduled airline seats, the busiest travel days of the weekend are expected to be Friday, August 30 and Monday, September 2.

“It has been a busy summer travel season at OAK,” said Port of Oakland Director of Aviation Craig Simon. “We wish OAK travelers a happy and safe Labor Day and thank them for choosing to Fly the East Bay Way for the holiday weekend.”

The airport recommends that passengers arrive early – at least two hours prior to departure for domestic travel and at least three hours prior to departure for international travel. For those with time to spare, new concessions are available in Terminal 1 with the recent introduction of Cancún Sabor Mexicano and A16 Pizza. To view all stores and restaurants available at OAK, visit the concessions page HERE.

To secure a parking spot and ensure smooth travels, OAK recommends a parking reservation. For a 3-day long weekend trip (Friday through Monday) the total cost of a reservation would be only $54 for an Economy parking reservation, including all taxes and fees. For extended trips, customers save even more with Park OAK’s weekday discount, applied to all days of the reservation that start between Monday and Thursday.
