LEVEL’S LOW AIRFARES SET TO ARRIVE IN OAKLAND

Oakland, CA: (June 2, 2017) – LEVEL launches the first ever nonstop flight between Northern California and Spain when it begins service from San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport to Barcelona today.

Flights will operate three times per week accommodating up to 314 customers in Premium Economy and Economy cabins on a brand new Airbus A330 aircraft. LEVEL is a new low cost longhaul airline brand, part of International Airlines Group (IAG), parent company of British Airways, Iberia and Aer Lingus, among others.

As well as experiencing the delights of Barcelona, Bay Area travelers can connect quickly and easily to over 50 European cities including Paris, Rome, and Berlin in addition to multiple destinations within Spain. More than 134,000 tickets have been sold since March 17, the date LEVEL announced service between Barcelona and four Transatlantic markets.

LEVEL has a codeshare agreement with American Airlines on flights between the US and Barcelona. To book flights on LEVEL, visit aa.com or the website of LEVEL’s sister airline Iberia (Iberia.com) in addition to flylevel.com.  Fares are as low as $199 USD one way based on availability.

Willie Walsh, IAG’s chief executive, said: “This is the start of a fantastic new adventure for IAG. LEVEL’s sales are well ahead of our expectations in all markets and the brand has resonated with a new audience, many of whom are flying longhaul for the first time.

“This is just the start – in 2018, LEVEL will increase its fleet to five aircraft and we are considering other European bases for the operation. We’re really excited about LEVEL which offers amazing fares, stimulating demand by providing people with more choice.”

“Today, Spain and Northern California are connected via air as LEVEL departs from its San Francisco Bay Area Gateway at San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport for the Catalonian capital, Barcelona,” said Bryant L. Francis, Port of Oakland Director of Aviation.

“The occasion of this first flight is made even more significant given the centuries deep roots between California and Spain. We’ve observed significant interest and excitement from both sides of the Atlantic in traveling on the new route for tourism and business purposes, with tech industries in both regions doing a great deal of business together. This new nonstop service makes traveling between the two tech and tourism capitals easier and quicker than ever before.”

Checked luggage (in addition to a free carry-on bag), meals, seat selection and the latest movie releases are complimentary for customers flying in premium economy. Those traveling in economy can choose onboard services based on a menu of options. All customers have access to next generation inflight technology with a wide range of onboard entertainment options. High speed internet connectivity is available with prices starting at €8.99.

Customers flying with LEVEL are able to earn and redeem Avios – the loyalty currency for IAG’s airlines. This gives them the opportunity to fly to 380 destinations across the Group’s network which sets LEVEL apart from other longhaul low cost carriers.
